This is the home of t2img.com and the TextImage plugin for Wordpress. Every page at wordpress.org bears the motto "CODE IS POETRY". I think of TextImage and t2img.com as my code poem for freedom of expression.
I wrote the ancestor of the simple code that powers t2img.com and TextImage to dynamically create graphical DHTML menu buttons for the website of my market research business. Graphical DHTML buttons are all but useless now, because CSS can do most of the same tricks more elegantly and economically. But putting text on an image can still be useful. You can do it with about any image editing program, but the interface tends to be clunky and slow. Mac users have excellent screen capture facilities, but they are a fraction of all computer users, and Linux, Windows, and Solaris are much less capable.
The inspiration for this project was the great firewall of China. It seems intolerable to me that the thirst of humanity for knowledge should be thwarted by a simple text filtering program. So TextImage and t2img.com are really tools for enabling free speech, but text images have other uses too - feel free to use it as you wish.
TextImage and t2img.com are provided as-is and are not guaranteed or even asserted to be suitable for any purpose whatsoever. Simple OCR programs can reconstruct the text from these images. In order to use t2img.com, you must transmit the text over the web in the clear. Do not use t2img.com or textimage for any activity that is illegal or that could get you in trouble. You've been warned.
